The Top 10 Wedding Trends in Ontario for 2024

As we enter the 2024 wedding season in London, Ontario, there are some exciting new trends emerging in wedding photography. As a wedding photographer, it's important to stay on top of these new trends to ensure that we provide you, our clients, with the best possible service. In this post, we'll explore the top 10 wedding photography trends that are sure to be popular this year and how Tanya Kristine Photography can help you!

Candid Moments:

Couples are looking for authentic, un-posed moments captured on their special day. Wedding photographers are now focusing more on capturing candid moments that truly reflect the couple's personality and relationship. This is also known as "traditional style" wedding photography.

We at Tanya Kristine Photography are known for our traditional/editorial style wedding photography. We ensure to capture all the important candid moments from your day with some fashion-magazine quality bridal portraits sprinkled in.

Intimate Weddings:

With the current pandemic, many couples are opting for smaller, more intimate weddings. As a result, wedding photography is shifting towards capturing the details of these intimate celebrations and the emotions of the couple and their closest loved ones.

We at Tanya Kristine Photography have adapted our pricing structure to accommodate these smaller gatherings and are now offering two different elopement packages.

Minimalism:

In 2024, we're still seeing a shift towards minimalistic wedding photography. This style focuses on clean, simple compositions that highlight the beauty of the couple and their surroundings. These photos typically have a minimalist aesthetic, with a focus on negative space, clean lines, and a limited color palette. The goal is to capture the essence of the wedding day without distracting from the main subject or moment.

While Tanya Kristine Photography can appreciate a minimalistic style that focuses on negative space and clean lines, we prefer our images to be bright and bold without looking fake. We ensure our images are true to color to ensure they will stand the test of time.

Film Photography:

Film photography has made a comeback in recent years. Many wedding photographers are using this traditional medium to capture the romantic and nostalgic feeling of weddings.

Unfortunately, film photography is not a part of Tanya Kristine Photography's wedding offerings, however, we are more than happy to find someone to work along side us to provide you that service! If film photography is on your list of "must haves", simply let us know during the booking process and we will get started finding someone to help us out with that!

Non-Traditional Venues:

Couples are now opting for non-traditional wedding venues such as warehouses, rooftops, and even museums. This trend is leading to more creative and unique wedding photography.

Tanya Kristine Photography is always down for an adventure. We love visiting new venues and getting to photography unique places like those mentioned above. If you want your wedding there, we will come! Just make sure you have researched and purchased any photography permits you may need!!

Black and White:

Black and white photography is a timeless classic that never goes out of style. This year, we're seeing a resurgence of this classic style in wedding photography.

Tanya Kristine Photography includes Black & White images in all client galleries. We love how such a simple edit can really change the whole look and feel of an image. Rest assured, you will receive some stellar black and white images when you work with us!

Environmental Portraits:

Environmental portraits are becoming increasingly popular in wedding photography. This style focuses on capturing the couple in their natural surroundings, whether it be in the city or the great outdoors.

As we talked about above, Tanya Kristine Photography is always up for an adventure elopement. Let's go hiking in Algonquin Park, explore the mountains in BC or go off trail in the Muskokas/Ontario Crown Land. If you aren't up for a road trip, that's ok! There are tons of little trails in Southwestern Ontario that we can explore too!

Drone Photography:

Drone photography is a relatively new trend in wedding photography. It provides a unique perspective of the wedding venue and the surrounding landscape.

Tanya Kristine Photography doesn't currently offer drone footage, however, we have been seriously tempted to give it a try! We are looking into brands, models and licensing for one and as soon as we figure it out, we'll let you know! In the mean time, if this is something you are super interested in having on your big day, we are more than happy to help source someone to work with us in capturing some drone footage for your wedding!

Editorial Style:

Many wedding photographers are adopting an editorial style of photography. This style focuses on capturing the wedding day as if it were a fashion shoot, with an emphasis on the fashion and design elements of the wedding.

Tanya Kristine Photography is known for our traditional/editorial style wedding images. We love to capture each candid moment while getting more into the fashion elements during your bridal portraits. We think its the best of both worlds, really.

Live Streaming:

With the pandemic still affecting many weddings, live streaming is becoming a popular option for couples and their guests who cannot attend. Wedding photographers are now offering live streaming services, ensuring that no one misses out on the special day.

Live streaming is something that we have been asked to do before. We do not currently offer it as a service, but we are more than happy to help your parents or other wedding party member set up your phone and tripod to livestream your ceremony on Facebook Live or other platform.

In conclusion, as a wedding photographer in London, Ontario, it's important to stay on top of the latest trends in wedding photography. By incorporating these trends into our work, we are be able to provide our clients with the best possible service and capture your special day in a way that truly reflects your unique personalities and style.
